Corks & Polishers

Corks do the finishing work after a wax or an overlay: they generate a little heat through friction, which helps a paste or powder bond to the base, and they polish the surface smooth.

Natural cork is the traditional choice and is still what most tuners use for rubbing in pastes and block overlays. Synthetic corks and roto polishers cover the same job with more consistency, and a roto fleece on a drill is the fastest way to finish a pair.

The common mistake is pressing hard. Corking is about heat and polish, not force, so use moderate pressure and several passes.

See pastes and powders for what you apply with these, roto brushes for the powered version, and the rest of our waxing equipment.
